The Cougar Calling Center employs 40-50 student callers each semester to contact alumni, parents and friends of the College of Charleston. These students serve as the most accurate spokesperson for the college, as they experience the benefits and achievements that the College of Charleston Fund is able to provide. Our students call with the intentions to act as a resource to the alumni, parent or friend. Over half of our current callers are recipients of scholarships, a primary focus of the College of Charleston Fund. As a direct beneficiary, these students believe in the importance of giving back to the College.

The Cougar Call Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Bellsouth Building, centrally located on campus to make it a popular job amongst students. Students call year-round, attempting to contact each alumnus of the college and to provide them with the most accurate information. Each phone call allows the student to update the parent or alumnus about the current building projects, athletic standings, alumni events, current rankings of the college, and most importantly, allows the student to build a lasting relationship with the prospect. The students also serve as a way for the College to maintain the most up-to-date records of all of our supporters. Each phone call allows the alumnus or parent to update mailing, phone, or email information in order to receive all information from the College.

Most importantly, our phone calls encourage the parents and alumni to make a gift to the College of Charleston Fund. Most alumni and parents feel that by having a personal conversation and interaction with a current student, it is even more rewarding to give back. The students, in return, leave each night of calling feeling good about how they directly made an impact on the school they pride themselves in attending.
