Named Endowed Chair $1,000,000
- Endowed Chairs at institutions of higher education provide for the attraction and retention of the nation's most outstanding
scholars in selected disciplines. There is no higher honor that a distinguished scholar can achieve than to be invited to hold an endowed chair
in his or her discipline at a prestigious university.
- Donors who wish to assist the College of Charleston in attracting the finest scholars may endow a chair in an important area of
study. Such a prestigious gift brings recognition both to the donor, for whom the chair may be named, and to the professor, whose stature attracts and
develops young men and women who will be tomorrow's scholars and professional leaders.
Named Endowed Professorship $250,000
- Within the schools at the College of Charleston, the opportunity exists to create named professorships which honor donors
while adding prestige to the school or department. A donor may name the professorship in honor of family members or other individuals, or in the
name of a business or organization.
- A gift that endows a professorship supplements basic salary and program funds, attracts a fine scholar, or recognizes
exceptional scholarship among existing faculty members.
Named Endowed Fellowship $100,000
- Graduate fellowships serve an invaluable purpose in higher education by providing an incentive for students to continue
their education and make contributions to the body of knowledge in selected fields. The availability of fellowship support is especially
important given the fact that talented graduate students are highly sought after.
Named Endowed Scholarship $25,000
- Undergraduate scholarships bring to the College of Charleston those students who are sought after by the nation's highly
competitive universities for the invigorating effect they have on fellow students and the faculty. These scholarships can also be important
to students whose personal financial situation is such that they cannot obtain a college degree without assistance.
- The Named Scholarship Program establishes an endowment fund large enough that the earnings can underwrite the cost of
an education for a deserving student; awards are made on the basis of merit and/or financial need. Donors may name scholarships in honor
of individuals - perhaps family members, an esteemed business colleague, friend - or a class or organization. The student recipient will be
known as the "named" scholar.
General Program Endowment $25,000
- The purpose of the general endowment is to generate unrestricted funds that can be used each year by the College,
one of the schools, or a department to meet special needs and/or opportunities that arise in teaching, research, or public services. Endowments
may be named.
